The question of whether the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate is unconstitutional is at the heart of one Supreme Court case that could be decided this month, but Arizonans weighed in almost two years ago.
The state approved the Health Care Freedom Act during the 2010 election by 55 percent. The proposition exempted Arizona residents from being forced to participate in any state or federal law that would require them to purchase health care.
Arizona Democrats continued to support the federal health care law, with nonprofit organization LUCHA accumulating more than 700 signatures on its petition to encourage the government to continue implementing the law.
