As of the morning of Oct. 24, 39 percent of early ballots cast in Colorado were cast by registered Republicans and 37 percent were by registered Democrats, according to data released by Colo. Sec. of State Scott Gessler’s office.Republicans outpace Democrats by about 5,574 votes.
The turnout thus far is the inverse of the 2008 statistics, when, by Oct. 23, 40 percent of votes cast in Colorado were from Democrats and 33 percent were from Republicans.
At the same time, the portion of early votes that are unaffiliated or of “other” affiliation has decreased from 27 to 24 percent.
The numbers were released after two days of early voting.
