As Obama gets ready to embark on his two-day campaign tour in Virginia, Mitt Romney’s camp is dispatching the former New York mayor to the state.
Giuliani emphasized to Virginia veterans on Thursday that Obama would destroy the region’s job base, while Obama plans to build enthusiasm for his economic plan and push tax fairness as the centerpiece of his pitch to Virginians at his Friday appearance.
Before Obama makes his stops in Virginia, Giuliani will visit the Richmond area of Henrico on Friday to attend the opening of Romney’s new office. Currently, the number of GOP offices in Virginia outnumber Obama’s offices, 23 to 17.

It is no surprise that President Obama and Mitt Romney are already campaigning heavily in Virginia. Along with a handful of other swing states, the Old Dominion is expected to hold the keys to the White House this year.
A Republican bastion in presidential races between 1968 and 2004, the increasingly liberal northern region just south and west of Washington, D.C., has swung the state towards the Democrats in 2008. But the state’s still influential conservative southern and far western parts create a competitive environment between Republican and Democratic candidates.
