- Larry Sabato, a political scientist from University of Virginia, in a “Daily Beast” article. Despite recent polling that says President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney are effectively tied in Missouri, Sabato believes Romney will win the state because Sen. Claire McCaskill, a major Obama supporter in 2012, and other leading Missouri Democrats are trying to distance themselves from some of Obama’s more controversial policies, like the Affordable Care Act.
