Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill’s (D) campaign has released another ad targeting her Republican rival, Rep. Todd Akin, on his earlier comments about legitimate rape.

Rep. Todd Akin’s remarks earlier this year on “legitimate rape” may have cost him as much as $10 million in Republican support from outside groups over the course of his Senate campaign.
“He would’ve won,” said political scientist Ken Warren told the Kansas City Star. “Akin was far ahead before the gaffe. When he lost the money, he was ahead by 10 (points).”

Sen.Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) has canceled her campaign schedule for the week to be with her critically ill 84-year-old mother, Betty Anne McCaskill, who was in a St. Louis Hospital Intensive care unit.
According to McCaskill campaign spokeswoman Caitlin Legacki the senator has canceled campaign stops in Mount Vernon, Butler and Clinton and all other stops through the rest of the week.

This week Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) released a series of attack ads that feature actual rape victims who are criticizing Akin’s opposition to Plan B contraception,even in cases of sexual assault. Meanwhile Akin has responded with ads calling the Senator corrupt for “lining her pockets with federal funds.”
