  1. CNN reports that the Republican National Committee, in conjunction with Mitt Romney’s campaign, will relocate three campaign staffers to a more competitive Colorado and Nevada.

Although Republicans will maintain a campaign staff in New Mexico, all signs point to them ceding to President Obama in the state. RealClearPolitics reports that Obama has a 10-point lead over Romney.

Neither candidate is currently airing television ads in New Mexico.

  2. Arizona State University students respond to that question Washington Post contributors asked Republican and Democratic National Convention-goers for Unconventional

Megan Mayer, junior:“Overall, I like the Democratic environmental policies and their equal-rights idea. I am for gay rights. Even though I personally know Republicans who are not so conservative, the Republicans in the news are very conservative. I don’t like that.”

Brent Walters, junior: “My parents are Republicans, so that’s a factor. I helped start, in my high school in East Mesa, a club for young Republicans. I believe in fiscal responsibility and I’m a fan of very open commerce. I guess I believe in making your own luck. I find myself more of a fiscal Republican than a social one.”

Dani Tomlison, senior: “Generally I feel the Democrats’ platform reflects my views on how society should be run by the government. I’m pro-choice and I believe the LGBT community has the right to get married. Top-down economics don’t work.

"I don’t understand how any woman can vote Republican with the platform they’re running. I mean, every single republican voted against equal pay between men and women.”

Josh Brooks, junior: “I feel like the republican ideals fit with the way I perceive the world. I would say I’m more moderate. I don’t agree with the way democrats deal with finances and immigration policies. Those who work hard should be rewarded. They should be able to help in the way they want or can, not be forced to do so.”

  3. usatoday:

The GOP convention this week has really given Romney a boost in our Twitter Election Meter (which measures sentiment, tricky as that can be). So that’s interesting. But what may be more interesting is that it didn’t have as great of an effect in the 12 swing states we’re tracking.

  4. We’ve never come into a convention where another campaign has spent a half a billion dollars plus the outside groups. I just think all bets are off about any kind of past performance being a predictor of the future.”

  6. Sen. Kelly Ayotte took aim at President Obama’s business record Tuesday night at the Republican National Convention.

"In both the private sector and as Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney always asked ‘How can I help businesses grow, innovate, and compete?’" Ayotte told the crowd.

Tropical Storm Isaac may have abbreviated Monday’s events at the Republican National Convention, but preparations for the four-day event in Tampa, Fla., endure.

Inside the Tampa Convention Center, three floors worth of media rooms fill the building — from Time to Twitter, from the Tampa Bay Times to the Washington Post.

An enclosed walkway leads to the Tampa Bay Times Forum, in which politicians, delegates and the media will congregate.

Angela Gard, the CEO of Tampa’s Couture that Rox, serves as the merchandising manager of the GOP Shoppe.

The shop, located inside the forum, will sell apparel, buttons and other products related to the Republican Party, the Romney-Ryan ticket and the 2012 convention itself, Gard said.

She said all revenue goes back to the host committee in Tampa and to the Romney campaign.

A registered Republican, Gard said she’s supportive of the Romney-Ryan ticket.

But Gard won’t be the only one working inside a vendor in the forum this week.

Karla Soloman, a cashier at Mr. Empanada, will be sell food and drinks instead of GOP iconography.

Soloman said during the convention, she and her co-workers will get to the forum around 5:30 a.m. and clock in at 7. They’ll work until midnight and keep that schedule for the convention’s duration.

"The more, the better" when it comes to Mr. Empanada customers for the convention, Soloman said.

  8. The state is going to hell. Col. [Allen] Weh would not have dishonored Col. Custer in this manner.”
